Dear Walkathon Team Leaders & Potential Team Leaders:
We're delighted to let you know that the 18th Annual Cancer Resource Center Walkathon and 5K Run will be held Saturday morning, October 15th in Ithaca's Cass Park.
Our motto this year is Walk, Run, Celebrate!
People often call our office to ask how they can help a loved one who has cancer. Forming a team to walk in honor of that person is incredibly meaningful for the participants and for the person being honored.
Many teams form within the workplace, in classes, within athletic teams, in faith communities, in neighborhoods, and in families. Some are designed to honor a particular individual and others walk in honor of everyone with cancer. (Did you know that there are more than 3,000 survivors of cancer in Tompkins County?)
For those of you who are new to our community, the Cancer Resource Center is the only cancer support organization of its kind in Central New York. We listen, connect people with resources, provide support groups, and generally insure that no one has to face cancer alone.
